Let’s eat

This post is all about food provided by WordCamp Europe, covering the Volunteer Social, Contributor Day, the main event, and the After Party. Read on!

One of the most challenging aspects of organizing a large conference, with attendees arriving from all over the world with their different dietary preferences and requirements, is getting the food right. Every year we change cities and venues, which means we also work with different caterers, and with local customs. Each year we welcome vegans and vegetarians, people who eat gluten-free and lactose-free, folks who eat kosher or halal, and those with a variety of allergies that can cause them serious stress if they have to wonder what’s in the food and if it will cause them harm.

After two years of providing bagged lunches, this year we are going back to the buffet format to make it easier for you to compose your own meals. Oh, and after the food truck fiasco at the After Party last year (really, really, long lines), we have a special treat for you in Belgrade: dinner at the After Party is on us!

A couple of notes

  • None of the recipes contain nuts (except one at the After Party that contains pine nuts).
  • All vegan dishes are also lactose-free.
  • Vegetarian dishes may contain egg or dairy.
  • Vegan and vegetarian dishes will be clearly marked.
  • Halal and kosher meals will be served separately (and solely in the restaurant area).

We’re providing the menus for you in advance so that you can decide if you might want to eat off campus or make other dinner plans. That said, we do hope you like what you see here and will stay and share your meal with us!
